Dr Irwin Epstein, PhD, Hunter College of Social Work, New York.
Dr Irwin Epstein trained as a sociologist at Colombia University.  He has developed, refined and published widely on the use of Clinical Data Mining (CDM) as a tool for integrating practice and research which has particular application for social work practice.  The book Clinical Data Mining in Practice Based Research (2008) edited by Dr Epstein and Susan Blumfield was specifically targeted to social workers in hospital settings.  In 2010 Dr Epstein published a pocket-guide Clinical Data Mining: Integrating Practice and Research which draws on work from a multitude of international settings. In July 2011, a new publication Clinical Data Mining in an Allied Health Organisation which Dr Epstein has edited with colleagues in Australia will be released.  Dr Epstein travels widely and has collaborated with colleagues in the US, Australia, Israel, Hong Kong and the UK.
